Ban Phang Heng lower secondary school
After the lower secondary school in the neighboring village of Ban Phang Heng had already been supported since 2007 through donations of materials, teacher training and minor renovation work, the planning of a new building on the site followed in 2009. The construction work was completed in 2011. The new Ban Phang Heng lower secondary school was inaugurated together with the then German Ambassador to Laos, Robert von Rimscha.
After the renovation and addition of more storeys to the existing buildings, the now two-storey building offers space for twelve classrooms, a staff room, two offices for directors and the foundation, a PC workroom, a kitchen, a library and a large multi-purpose hall for sports and joint events.
The foundation also offers a wide range of activities. Students can take part in painting and handicraft classes, dancing, ball sports and table tennis. Karate lessons are also held daily; the school team has won many national awards as a result. In 2015, the school was expanded once again. Three new classrooms were built behind the multi-purpose hall, as well as a physics and chemistry room, where science lessons can now also be offered. Currently, more than 1,000 students attend the Ban Phang Heng lower secondary school, taught by more than 30 teachers.
